How to Become a Member
Rotary is always seeking new members; but it is the quality--not the quantity--of
membership that counts. For this reason, member recruitment is done by
invitation and member recommendation only. If you have not been invited to join
Rotary, and you are an interested business or professional leader in Osceola
County, the Kissimmee Bay Rotary club would be happy to host you at one of our
meetings.
Our members are happy to share Rotary with you. If you are being considered for
membership, you may attend meetings at our expense until your official induction
into our club.
Commitments
Time Commitment: Rotarians serve and work together to better local communities
and the world. Rotarians are expected to be faithful and consistent participants in
Rotary projects, meetings and events. The requirement listed below are minimum
requirements, but true Rotarians seldom are satisfied with minimal efforts!
Attendance: Our one-hour meetings are held weekly except for legal holidays. Our
club by-laws require a minimum of 60% attendance, but we encourage 100%
attendance. A missed meeting can be made up at any of the Rotary Clubs
worldwide. Make-ups must be within a four-week window (two weeks before the
missed meeting or two weeks after the missed meeting.)
Club Service and International Service: Members are encouraged to support all
club functions, programs, and fund raisers.
Financial Commitment: New members pay a one-time initiation fee. Annual dues
($125) and meals ($11 per week) are invoiced quarterly and payable in advance.
We encourage our members to support The Rotary Foundation with an annual
contirbution of $100. There are other expenses throughout the year, of course,
depending on various club projects and functions.
Other Commitments: Rotarians are expected to be generous with time, talent, and
resources. Rotarians serve and work together to better local communities and the
world. Rotarians are expected to be faithful and consistent participants in Rotary
projects, meetings, and events.
Leadership Commitment: Rotarians are expected to be leaders, and to lead in an
exemplary manner. As you mature in Rotary, you will be expected to help lead in
one or more area; or you may be asked to be an officer: a treasurer, a sergeant-at-
arms, a secretary, or a club president.
